The people of the Faridpur district expect giant business prospects as the government is set to open the Padma Bridge on June 25.
At least 2 million people in the district are looking forward to changing their lot by uplifting economic activities after the opening of the Padma Bridge, stakeholders said.
The country’s largest infrastructure will fulfill the most desired expectation of Faridpur dwellers for easy transportation of goods and smooth communication of passengers with the capital city of Dhaka and other parts of the country, they hoped.
All walks of people of the southwestern part of the country are delighted as the bridge will connect 21 districts including Faridpur after its grand opening.
Faridpur people see a giant business prospect for Padma Bridge: Faridpur Press Club President Kobirul Islam Siddique said the Padma Bridge will change the lot of 20 lakh people of the district as it will bring blissful prospects in the economic sector.
“After opening the bridge, the transport owners, businessmen and even employees of luxury coaches running for Dhaka, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khulna, Barishal, Jashore, Kusthia, Satkhira, Bagura, and Rangpur will be able to be to earn a lot in a course of short time”, he added
“The construction of the Padma Bridge is the highest achievement after the liberation war and our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the only leader who deserves the crown for taking the initiative of erecting this giant bridge in the country,” Siddique added.
President of ‘Sammilito Sangskritik Jote’ in Faridpur and Freedom Fighter Aminur Rahman said the Padma Bridge is our pride. It will connect the people of the southwestern part with the capital for which one can travel across the country by bus or train easily at a cheaper rate, he added.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fulfilled the dream defying all conspiracies of the vested quarter. We feel proud of her who has succeeded in achieving the target of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he added.
Commander of Muktijoddha Sangshad Abul Fayaz Shahnew said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had given us an independent country and his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has gifted us Padma Multipurpose Bridge defying all local and international conspiracies.
“We are as happy as we own victory in 1971,” Fayaz overwhelmed.
Educationist and veteran journalist Professor Mohammad Shajahan said the Padma Bridge will be convenient for establishing an economic zone in the southwestern part.
The capital city will be an integral part of this region as employment and treatment facilities will be available for connecting this bridge with Dhaka, he said.
“If I wanted to go to Dhaka for treatment, it would need 12 to 14 hours earlier. After opening the bridge one can reach the capital within 2 hours from Faridpur by road. It is a tremendous establishment I think”, Shajahan added.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur district Atul Sarker said the district is witnessing the possibility of immense economic prosperity due to the Padma Bridge. It will play an outstanding role in communication as well as education, health, and treatment, he said.
“Undoubtedly, the bridge will help fulfill the SDG target. It will also open the door to training on ICT,” he mentioned.
The Padma Bridge will play an immense role in the 4th industrial revolution, the DC added.
